Volunteering with children, young people and the elderly is one of the most rewarding things you can do with a gap year.
You might help develop underprivileged children to maximise their potential, equipping them with the skills for a brighter future. Or enable the elderly to live life with dignity and enjoyment in their twilight years.
There are plenty of opportunities all over the world for anyone who wants a caring gap year, and hundreds of programmes to choose from. You can work in an orphanage in Cambodia, or care for the elderly in New Zealand, or change the lives of street children in Vietnam.
Whatever your skills and whatever time you can offer, there are people ready to benefit from your efforts.
