Work as an Au Pair

If you have the energy and enthusiasm to help look after underprivileged children, our Care and Community placements in Costa Rica, in the heart of Central America, are ideal for you. You will work alongside local staff in an orphanage, care centre or special education centre for babies, children and some adults with disabilities like Downs Syndrome.

There is a great deal you can do to contribute to the much-needed care and support of the children. You can help with day-to-day practical tasks ensuring that the young children have been washed and fed, as well as helping them advance through school by helping them with reading, writing and arithmetic. This is also the perfect opportunity to put any skills you have to good use. From finger painting to football, the time you dedicate will help to add fun and enjoyment to the children’s lives. Most importantly, you are giving love and attention that otherwise might be lacking from their lives. It can be demanding work, but it is also extremely rewarding.

All volunteers are allocated a supervisor within their placement, and also have the backup of our staff in the local office and the UK. During your spare time, there are great opportunities here for getting to know other volunteers and exploring this beautiful country. Costa Rica offers a strong mix of indigenous and more Westernised cultures. With chains of volcanoes, tropical rainforests, magnificent waterfall and beautiful sandy beaches, Costa Rica is an environmental wonderland.
