This placement would suit... A responsible person with a positive attitude and a love of children.
Our Orphanage placements are in and around the city of San Pedro Sula. This is the second largest Honduran City. It is a busy city full of shops, markets, bars, discos, and cafes. The town has excellent reliable and cheap road and air access to all parts of Honduras.
If living and working in a sunny Central American republic with the Caribbean Sea lapping at its shores appeals to you, go for Spanish speaking Honduras where you can take the opportunity to look after orphans.Changing Worlds placements in orphanages are extremely popular and demand for placements is high. We are happy to be associated with some excellent orphanages and children's homes around the World. Each set of circumstances for the children is unique. Some are orphaned by the death of their parents, some have been thrown out by their parents because they are handicapped or, as in India, they are female! Some have experienced tragic events like the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Others are discriminated against by the political regime in which they find themselves - like the hill tribe children from Burma who have fled to Thailand. Others are the result of a fast changing political system where the poor and vulnerable are left to fend for themselves like children and young adults in Latvia. We look for volunteers who love children. We look for volunteers who can cope with stress of working long hours with limited resources. We look for volunteers who will be prepared to live in basic living conditions. We can offer you work with babies, work with toddlers, work with handicapped children and work with young adults - you can choose and will try to match your wants with the needs of the institution. Our criteria is more determined by their needs than by your wants and we will we do want we can to match these up as well as we can. If you can be flexible this tells us a lot about you! If you fit this description then this type of placement may be for you.
