This placement would suit... anyone who?d like to work with babies and toddlers that have been given up, rescued from abuse or cannot be cared for by their families. They need care, attention and fun Volunteering on this fantastic project will give you a unique opportunity to provide care to some of Santiago’s orphans. Often abandoned by families that either cannot afford to, or do not wish to care for them, these young children are in desperate need for some love and affection. The Volunteer RoleThere are two shelters, set up to care for babies and toddlers, from age zero to four! The children are at the shelter for legal reasons; be it to protect them from abusive families, or because they have been put up for adoption, with the aim to find a suitable home for them, once the Chilean Justice system has cast judgement on their future. Daily duties include waking, feeding, bathing and caring for the babies and toddlers. Love and attention is what they need most, to give them the best possible start in life. As the centres are always overworked and understaffed, your help is well received. As a minimum, you will be required to volunteer for 10 hrs per week. If you are able to offer more time, it is greatly appreciated. Project LocationSantiago, capital city of Chile Accommodation & MealsFor the language school and volunteering package, you will be staying with an Chilean host family. Our host families are carefully screened and must meet stringent requirements before being accepted on the project. Host families will provide most meals. If you choose the volunteering project alone, you will be staying at a hostel. Breakfast is included but other meals are your own responsibility!
