This placement would suit... those who enjoy working with children and would like to do so with a backdrop of the Indian outer Himalayas!
This India voluntary programme is the perfect choice if you want to teach children or care for children in India. The Himachal programme includes plenty of excursions and sightseeing trips so you will get a real taste of Indian culture. The Volunteer PlacementYour volunteer placement will be interesting and varied as well as utilising your skills to the communities' best advantage. International volunteers have made a direct impact on the region and the work with the Indian communities has benefited many disadvantaged people. Your volunteer placement could involve any of the following work:- Teaching placement:
Teach the children English as well as creating a playful, interesting environment for them. - Childcare volunteer placement:
Work in a day care centre. These centres aren't the crèches we're used to in the West - they are for ensuring children and mothers are receiving enough care and support. You will spend your day giving personal care and attention to the children and help feed them etc. - Special Needs School volunteer placement:
Help out in an understaffed special needs school. Assist teachers complete assignments, organise activities for the kids and visit the children's home to help families cope.
Project Location
The project starts with an overnight stay in Delhi. The group spends 3 days in Jaipur for orientation and sightseeing. After this, you all board an overnight train for Palamphur. Palamphur is a quaint town high in the mountains where you'll be based for the majority of the programme. Accommodation & MealsAccommodation and meals are included. You will stay in a large stone house overlooking a stunning landscape dominated by glaciers and peaks of the Himalayan mountains. The food is amazing and there is plenty of it.
