Have left Asia, how wierd. Woke up on the morning of my flight to sydney
with an enormous lump in my stomach and feeling extremely nervous abot
re-entry into the western world after five months absence.
It was also the first flight i had taken since leaving home, which made me
feel like i was going home…it turned out ok though, am now in sydney and
quite like it although it sometimes still feels rather surreal and bizarre.
I enjoy the anonymity of the big city but unfortunately feel like this one
lacks the buzz of London. I also feel vaguely scarnful of what now, having
been removed from them, seem to be the petty and futile concerns of the
western world.

Am staying in a nice hostel right in the middle of things, would recommend
it to anyone, its called Wanderers on Kent, pretty much brand new with
excellent security. Have a key card that must use to do almost anything, not only to get into one’s room but also for use of the lifts and toilets. What
a change this makes from the tiny christmas cracker style padlocks i have
grown accustomed to in asia. It’s nice staying in dorms again since it’s so
easy to meet people.

Everything is expensive, food, internet, travel. Bought a one week
travelcard style thing with which i can go on the central train lines and
ferry sevices. Saw the bridge and sydney opera house today, not that they’re particularly important to me but seeing as they are globally respected landmarks i felt somewhat like i had acheived something by being there.Need to do some shopping if do stay in Oz, my wardrobe isn’t quite up to scratch, lol. Might splash out on some trainers.

The plane journey was allright, exhausting as in the middle of the night.
For food got some promising looking penne with tomato sauce which
unfortunately turned out to be flavourlesss.

Anyway, thats about all the news. Today gorged on chocolate, don’t know why but had been craving that the last couple of days. All the things i thought i would gorge on like milk, bread and cheese i haven’t had yet, but i’m sure its only a matter of time…!
