Kibbutz Israel

I haven’t booked tickets just yet, but I will be doing so in about a week or two, I’m going to Israel sometime in April to join a Kibbutz, I was going with a friend but sadly things got in the way. I have also asked someone on this site, who is also heading sometime in April but there is no reply just yet. Did you ever go on a kibbutz? If so was it good?
My two daughters are wanting to do a gap year in 2012 & are interested but I cannot find out how to apply. Can you help me please?

Hi, my son is heading off in a week to start on a kibbutz.
The above is a reputable org. In tel aviv.
You apply online. Require doctor to fill in medical as well.
They organize the volunteer visa as well as health cover while on kibbutz. You meet up at their offices and they discuss options on kibbutz available. Cost is shekels…1250 which includes visa, health cover, admin and 400 shekels which is refundable (for any damage done on kibbutz)
Suggest u book a hostel for 2 nights near their office in case a space is only ready in a day or two after they arrive.  Busy times are from June to sept.
Minimum of two months required on kibbutz, and volunteer visa is valid for three months, can be extended by their office also.

Hope this helps…best fun ever, my nephew just gt back. I and my brother have been.  Their r religious kibbutzes, also some where u work and learn Hebrew, called uplands, or purely volunteer kibbutz.
Salary is about $4 per day, but varies.
You ge all your eals, lodging, all u need r your clothes and toiletries

Telephone sim card got at office works, called global sim, where u can top up online. Best prepaid travel card to load up cash, linked to MasterCard, is commonwealth
