Ok so
theres this really great charity run by Caroline Hansford that helps to repair current schools and rebuild those that are out there.

SHe usually takes our groups of year 11 students after they have done their gcse’s and has been doing so for about 16 years.  Two years ago i was lucky enough to go our to Malawi for all of july 07 and work with some amazing people.  We stayed in a logde on the shores of lake malawi (carolines house is inside the lodges grounds) and worked 5 days a week in the schools lime washing the buildings, teaching, playing with the kids, mixing cement and making breeze block things for the windows!  As well as this we got the chance to go to a lovly wildlife park.  Being out and about with the locals during the day really gets you in the heart of it!  The people out there are wonderful, very very very poor but generous and welcoming and always ready to talk to you.

But this year will be the last year caroline takes our young students due to various personal circumstances.  Taking 16 year olds means various visas and regulations etc etc

But there is a ladty called michele who has been assisting caroline for years and who, along with many of the people who have been, do not want to see MEL (malawi education link) go under!  So i was just wondering about whether anyone from here would be interested?  It really is a once in a life time opportunity but of course you would need to be able to book yourself flights to arrive on certain days, be ready to work and learn, sort out visas etc! Carolines experience as well as micheles and the logde owners would ensure that you would be able to work out and about!

I just want to see if anyone would genuinly be intersted before i take the idea properly to Caroline!  If you want to see some photos there are a few on my profile :)

PS. the photo i have at the moment is what their current schools are like!!!! Iv slept in side that and the roof leaks, there are holes in the wall and each child has to walk a long time to get there!  it took us about 30 minutes into the hills from dwanga in a jeep!!
