As part of our RTW trip we are landing in Bangkok and making our way overland to Singapore before heading on to oz.
After about 6 weeks volunteer work in northern thailand we have 6 weeks to make our way down to Singapore
is it possible/realistic to head north to see a bit Laos before heading south?
Iv heard its an amazing part of South East asia

We have a budget of approx £950-£1000 for the 6 weeks of travelling.

Any honest opinions ?
advice greatly appreciated!!

Everything is a compromise but, yes you would have plenty of time to sample Laos.  If you’re already in North Thailand then you’ll want to head to Chang Kong to get the slow boat to Luang Prabang. The popular route it then to head to Vang Vieng and onto Vientiene before crossing back into Thailand.  There’s loads more places to go, but everywhere else will be a detour from that quickest route, so you’ll be using more time.  Definitely worth exploring more if you don’t mind spending less time on the Thai Islands or in Malaysia.
