Hey -

I have always wanted to go to Haiti and help with the disaster relief programme ever since the earthquake hit at the start of 2010. As i finally have the time on my hands, I have decided that I would like to go in the first half of 2011.

Most organisations/charities require you to have experience but i have managed to find some that don’t require it, mostly small grass root charities.

Has anyone ever been to Haiti? If so could you get in touch with me as i would like to know more about travel insurance and health vaccines?

The charity am planning to volunteer with is called Shelters International Disaster Response, website - http://www.sheltersinternational.org/

Am not looking for the typical volunteer organisation where you have to pay, just a charity that is dedicated in helping Haiti and SIDR does seem to fit this criteria. You have to pay for your flights and $5 dollars a day for accommodation and food. You work in rebuilding houses and removing the mess the earthquake unfortunately left.

If anyone could tell me more about Haitian travel, feel free it would be highly appreciated.

Mark,
Liverpool, England
