Has anyone done it? How do you go about getting jobs there? and are there plenty of jobs?
When i was there Gazza i met loadsa people doing it. Especially in Phnomh penh. But they werent earning much, if anything. It went like this.
Degree and tefl- head of department
tefl- top teacher
nothing- normal teacher
Seemed pretty easy
cheers fella. just a little skeptical of going and finding a job if i do it as my budget will be low.
I’m teaching English in Siem Reap, but I’m doing it voluntarily. There are plenty of jobs around, and a lot of them don’t ask for proper qualifications. If you find something you like the sound of and have some hours free, you could consider tutoring as well? Extra income and it’s not so difficult. Could have a nosey around and see if there’s anything going these days?
What about trying China, Gary???
If I go, it will be around June I think, so no need to go looking just yet although the offer is appreciated. Will you still be there in June?
James, I am thinking about it, but of course jobs are much easier to come by online for China so I don’t need to worry. However Cambodia would be more up my street I think.
Yeah i know what you mean, Cambodia would be cool. China can be frustrating to live and work in sometimes. Mainly due to the small mindedness. Im going to rock up in central america in september and see what i can find.
I’d love to go there. Yeah I think China will be similar to Korea in that matter and it drives me mad a lot of the time. However, if you know of any jobs I’ll consider them!
i can give you an email of the school im at. Its not bad. They are looking for people in June and July!
