Hi Everyone,
I’m 24, from London and I’m looking to travel the states for 3 months (the longest you can go on a tourist visa) next year 2012, possibly around May. I want to travel the west and east coast, as well as make my way across between them.
I really want to do this by car, as I’ve been told the US is made for driving, and it will allow full control on where to visit and the chance to see all the smaller places that the usual trains and greyhounds would just past by! Obviously I want to see the big cities, but also the really small, off the beaten track sort of places that arent your typical touristy spots.
If anyone has a similar plan at a similar time, let me know!
Mike :D
You can actually stay longer than 3 months, i think (if you apply for a full tourist visa, rather than the free waiver) but anyway, I’m hoping to head out to the US sometime in 2012 for as long as I can, I’ve been planning it for ages but after discovering that its basically impossible for me to drive out there, I’m at a bit of a loss.
How are planning on driving out there? Renting?
Sounds like we have the same sort of ideas though. I’d like to be able to visit towns and places less travelled by tourists. As well as some cities, such as San Fran, Seattle and Chicago.
Hi folks,
I’m 24, italian, and I’m planning to quit my job at the end of this year to have one gap year in 2012.
I love the US, I’ve been there for two times (the first one for 2 months) and it would be the first place that I’d like to travel.
For instance, this september I’ll drive all the southwest (Cali - Arizona - Nevada - Utah)
I could be interested in a 3 months drive, I have a good knowledge of many places and what there’s to see. I have many other ideas too!
If you want, we could decide to plan something togheter!
Let me know!
Emanuele
Yo guys
this is exactly what i have in mind. I want to see as many places as possible however historic or random, right from the huge cities to the tiny unknown towns.
Driving sounds like an epic plan and 3 months is probs the minimum i want to do tbh. i would be looking to travel in the may/june 2012 after i graduate.
are you guys looking to do it in a group or just a couple people? i say the more the merrier!!! :D
talk to you soon
james
hey guys i have the same plan but no one to go with. When in 2012 were you thinking?
i’m probably now looking at september time 2012. starting in the east then heading to the west
I definitely have a similar plan. I want to travel aroun th U.S next year after i finish high school ... but none of my mates will want to go with me ... of course on my ‘must do’ for some reason is a random town in the middle of nowhere called ‘Dinosaur’ in Colorado. Why is it on my ‘must go’ ... because the streets are named after dinosaurs. Immature? Probably. But, so then so is ‘Wizarding World of HArry Potter’ i guess ... which is Numero uno on my ‘must go’. ... but hey, if you’re up for travelling with a spastic Aussie girl, then i’m up for it
Im definitly going in 2012 so im keen!! And anytime in 2012 is good for me. I did backpack across the states in 2009 from Boston - Seattle so ive seen a bit, but really want to get back. I loved the trip but it was a solo trip so im keen to go back with a few travel companions!
Hey everyone i have a similar plan too! i’‘d love to do america and canada in 2012 i’ve got olympic tickets so have to be home then so would either think of heading away between march and June or middle of August

Hey, I’ve been working in NY for 3 summers now and I’ve done a load of travelling. I’m actually driving from LA to Seattle via vegas, san fran and portland in September so if you need any info and stuff I’ll be happy to help out with the planning. Driving N.
