This will be my first time interrailing and tbh I dont really have a clue where to start!!
Me and a few friends are planning to travel for about 15 days in the summer, how much would this cost?
what are the best countries to visit?
and is it best to book hostels in advance?
Any help would be much appreciated! :)
Go on the website and request a brochure.
Hi I went interrailing for the first time last summer, it was great! me and 3 friends went over a lot of easten europe, it’s alot cheaper out there! if you look on a website, think it’s interrailing.net they can do 2/3 week tickets so you can travel to as many countries as you like! think they are about £200, which isnt too pricey.
booking hostels a couple of days in advance is a good way to do it, then you dont have to stick to much of a fixed route and can move on if you dont really like a place.
as for countries/cities i’d recommend prauge, salzberg, vienna, belgrade, budapest, and Berlin is amazing too!
Hope thats some help :)
my advice is dont bother with the interail pass, and combine buses, trains and ferrys. Also i would go to eastern europe as it is changing fast, so its the time to go now. Western europe isnt gonna change dramatically any time soon.
If you are going to be doing Italy france spain germany holland then its worth it. If you do more of the east. Its not worth it.
i went inter railing last summer for a month! ended up spend 2k for the entire trip including passes and flights. But we did spend quite a bit of time in western europe which is canny expensive, eastern europe (hungary, poland, solvenia, czech republic) is much cheaper, i would say about half the price!
Just book your first coupe of days, dont plan you whole trip, you will change your plans when you are there
A good route i did was from Barca upto Montpelier then along the south coast of France, Toulon Monte Carlo, Monaco, then Milan, Pisa, then went across to Ancona ferry port and got the overnight ferry to Split then went around the baltics
