October 06 - 11 days

I’ve been running Kids Club here on my own the last few days. Suzie who I lived and worked with had to go back home to England - leaving me to manage all the paperwork, liquidation, activity planning, and of course the sessions with the children!

This can only be good though, as it will all go down in my Personal Development Review before I go home next week. This will set me in good stead for next summer as I’m planning on going through the training to be a Head Rep in a programme we call Stars. So me running Club here and having the responsibility will all be taken into consideration!

Life is good here in Paphos though. Up until last night I hadn’t really spoken to the majority of people in the team. And now that Suzie had gone home, I didn’t really see me getting involved with any of the team. At my hotel yesterday, Dave (the Mainline rep) managed to persuade me to come out with them all to bowling and have a few drinks, so I did. I’m glad I met most people now, as it’s our end of season staff jolly next Friday and I didn’t want to just be sat there with no-one to talk to! :P

I’m looking forward to getting home even more now. the weather has really started to turn here, and last Thursday we had the most severe thunder and lightning storm I’ve ever seen in my life. It lasted for about 15/16 hours all through the night, and next morning was still as fierce as ever. I saw 3 tornado’s that day - bloody scary stuff! We went on the Fun Bus through the countryside on the Friday morning (my day off!) and some of the sights were atrocious! Water was cascading down off the hills and was roaring over the roads and washing cars and buses away. Walls and shops were collapsing, fields were lost, banana plantations were wiped out, it was horrible! All done through the torrential rain!

So with 11 days to go (or so I’m hoping, depending on flights!) I’m just trying to enjoy my time out here while it lasts because I may never set foot on Cyprus again in my life!

Im glad you’ve had such a great time, i know you’ve had your ups and downs but you should be very proud of yourself for sticking with it despite everything.

I’m flying home on Wednesday, Paphos to Exeter which is a pain in the arse - they couldn’t have put me more further away!!! Still, it’ll be interesting trying to see how quickly I can get back up to Edinburgh from there and for as little money as possible! :P flying might not be an option, as only small aircrafts fly Exeter to Edinburgh and I have well over 40kg of luggage! Oops! Still, they might let me on!

At least by this time next week I’ll be back home (and no doubt wishing I was away again!!!)

Nope, can’t say that I will wish I was back in Cyprus - I’m really looking forward to being away from the place to be honest. Ian the General Manager tried to bribe me into coming back in the summer, but I told him I’d come back in 2 years time instead.

I’m looking forward to being in my own bed, seeing my friends, spending time with the horses, the Scottish countryside, seeing the people I met this summer again because most of them live near me and the best bit of all - keeping away from kids for the next 5 months, cos at the moment I’m sick of the sight of them after 6 months of working with them :D

give being home a week and you will want to be away again!! :) ive found that out recently, but will be nice for you to catch up with everyone.
