I’m working my notice (2 weeks left!) and I have zero motivation or drive…

I’ve got lots to do before I leave my job but all I can do is think about my travel plans, make lists of things I need to do / buy before I go, and just generally daydream!

I have lots to complete and a huge amount of hand-over notes to compile yet here I am on a Friday afternoon… on work time!

I’m sure this isn’t an uncommon feeling but can someone give me a kick up the arse please?!

I’m here on work time as well, Amy.

Yes, it can be hard maintaining momentum when you know you’re leaving. I would never encourage anyone to slack off at work, but…how important is what you do? Is there actually room for some daydreaming? Hmmm. Maybe I should be a bit more serious?

Ok, er, get off the baords and…get back to work? No, I’m sorry, I’m just not very convincing…

If you slack off on your last two weeks you’ll leave on a bad note and they’d be less likely to want to take you back when you return (if that’s on the cards)?
Hope that helps!

On a practical note, I was advised on the 50/10 technique recently. Dedicate 50 minutes to solidly working on one task. Once the 50 minutes is up, take 10 mins to do your thing, Facebook, write lists, GapYear.com etc. Then once that 10 mins are up, start your next 50 minute task. It is really good actually.

P.S. Writing this on work time. x

Mate, I’ve hated my job since about day 5 (and it’s been a year and 3 months since then).. I’ve sorted my final work date which isn’t until the middle of october.. and I’m struggling to find the motivation.. other than my patients.. and pay day! BAH!

Four months of super unmotivated-ness.

(posted at 2am whilst at work.. on internet I’m not meant to have access to… err if my boss see’s this.. it was logged in already!! I don’t know how/why! I’m on a break.. I swear)

I know what you mean. I have about 12 days left in my job here in Korea, and it feels like it’s dragging so much. I’m finding it difficult to motivate myself to teach the kids while I’m dreaming of Luang Prabang and Krabi!

I’m doing way too much clockwatching. COME ONNNNNNNNN!!!!!

I’m ok at the moment but iv’e been there before.

My work is a piece of piss. I’m a chef at an Irish bar here in Germany and the only cooking i do i throwing things in the frier and slamming things into the microwave.

Iv’e been on autopilot from day one and i have another 4 months to go. I can daydream and work at the same time without any consequences :)

I guess it’s just part of the course then! Good to know I’m not the only one!

The work I still have to do is fairly important, I work for a concert promoter so it’s prepping for shows which are after I’ve left. I keep looking at show dates and imagining where I might be on that day. Will I be at the O2 on 2nd August? No I’ll probably be in Vietnam getting very drunk as it’s my friends birthday

Think I might give that 50 / 10 method a try next week!

Yeah 50/10 sounds like a great idea for when I go back to work! I’m so glad I leave banking when I go and never have to go back to it

I have 16 and a half days left of my job and 34 days till I leave the country and all I can think about is going away! It’s doing my head in as I really don’t get on with the people I work with either which makes the time go so slow. I have also walked in on one of the ladies moaning as she had too much work as I have my own work to do so that’s just made me not like it as much either. As much as I would love to sit here doing travel stuff (I am actually on work time now!) when the phones go on at 10 I barely have time to myself which sucks! :( I definitely am not getting a phone job wherever I go, I’m even thinking of not doing office work when I go away! This job is enough to put anyone off for life! But it is like Lexi says, you have to at least give the job your best effort before you go as you want a good reference before you go. I also book tickets for events and when I am booking dates for past my leaving the country date, I just have a smile on my face knowing that I will be somewhere so much better! :) x

A matter of weeks till you go…...I’m jealous!

Planning on going in March 2012 and the only motivation I have is the fact I need to keep my job till then just to have a steady income so that I can save. Im on here practically everyday during work. I can’t wait to go!!!

xx
