I’ll be pushing 29 years old in May 2012 so its literally my last chance to experience Oz on a Working Holiday Visa. Not only am i literally getting to old to do things, theres then the prospect of having to do them alone which isnt thrilling!
Im planning on hitting Sydney with Oz Intro end of May 2012 and taking it from there…..... the world of Oz is my oyster! Id love to find someone to fly out with and spend the first week together and then see where it goes from there. Its a long flight and i dont want my only company to be the fat chatty man next to me or the woman with 5 screaming children who wants to tell me her life story.
hey am planning on going may 2012 but am doing south east asia b4 oz am 29 now lol i have applied for my WHV for oz, are u just doing oz?? :)
I’m planning on doing the same, leaving end of May beginning of June hopefully. Also looking to do Oz Intro :-). I’ve been accepted for the WHV…just need to cough up for it now. I also (at some point) want to get over to NZ at some point and maybe over to Fiji too :-).
Do you have any ideas what jobs you want to do? My friend is putting me in touch with some peeps she met when she was travelling who work on the ski slopes in Oz as I will be arriving at the perfect time for winter :-).
I’m also a bit daunted about the whole thing. I’ll be 25 when I leave and leaving my boyfriend behind for the majority of it :-( and all my friends but as you said it is my last chance to be able to do it.
Totally feel your pain ref the company lol. I usally stick the headphones in and commence ignoring eek!
am just waiting for my WHV i will be doing SE asia for 3months then japan for a couple of weeks to see my brother then off to oz :) i also going to do fiji an NZ :)
I want to do everywhere!! NZ Fiji, Asia, the lot, at some point but need to go to Oz first.
When you say youve been accepted for WHV but you just need to pay for it…. how can you get it without paying for it?? I just stumped up my £170 last week and am waiting to hear back about it.
Work wise i was going to be pretty flexible and just do whatever, i have social work and housing qualification but doubt they’d let me loose in any government related work plus thats exactly what im trying to get away from just now! The non stress of bar work sounds good, im also qualified hairdresser but working on the slopes sounds pretty appealing to! I forgot that when we arrive iN May it will be winter…maybe best travel round straight away and leave the relaxing at Bondi for later in the year!
Lol read the email and the whoooole website wrong. I did an initial assessment to see if i could qualify for a visa which has come back all good :-). Thought it was a bit weird that I hadn’t paid anything lol.
Bar work is loads of fun but am I right in thinking that to work in a bar in Oz you have to get your own alcohol license? or am i misreading stuff again? lol
Ha ha, i was wondering how youd got away without paying for it! I had my WHV granted yesterday, hooray!!!
to work with alcohol in Oz you have to do a training course but companies like Oz Intro can get you enrolled on them. There is a similar scheme in the UK, its easy so i woudlnt worry to much about it. this might be a daft question… do you have to be able to ski to work on the slopes?? i cant, its something i plan to get round to learning at some point!
hey, im flying to sydney on 16th of may alone from birmingham! have you booked anything yet?
I am also going to oz in april/may 2012 and doing ozintro :)
im worried about going alone too!
Ah ive seen quite a few people doing oz intro and i looked into it a while ago, but i just think what they do, i can do myself kinda..
have you booked, flights, sorted visa, etc
Hey Im planning to head to Oz April time probably Perth and then earn some money before heading to the east coast up to Darwin etc. Anyone else going to be about then?Xx
Ozintro is awesome. Yes you can probably do things they do it’ll probably cost more. Plus you are with the people for a week so you make friends that youll keep for the rest of your trip. Just like I have just left the rest of the group over 3 weeks after my ozintro ended and know I can rely on 5 or 6.
If you want to talk add me on facebook.
im planning to go with ozintro in may 14th trip when I finish uni. Havvnt booked flight or anything yet but planning to do so when next student loan comes in January. Have to say most of these starter pack things like looked like a rip off but the ozintro one actually looks half descent with quite a few activities included(also see thers a night out on the saturday which is always good lol).
Luckily due to not having any exams for uni this year dont need to be in uni for third term so whole of last terms loan can go towards this, but want to start working straight away for a few months really and then have enough money to play with during the summer months.
Really looking forward to it and hopefully all will go according to plan as wanted to do something like this for a while and if I dont do it know hard to really see myself being able to anytime in the future
I’m 25 and looking to leave for Oz for a year on a WHV in roughly April. I didn’t take a gap year while at uni a few years ago, but now feel like its the right time, all or nothing! Looking for travel buddies to meet and spend time with, ideally those also there to work for a bit.
Havn’t booked anything yet though so I’m open to new plans and ideas. Would love to do the Oz Intro or similar package to get started and travel for at least a bit before starting work straight away.
Really looking forward as I’m desperate for the break!
I am going to be in Perth working from April/May. Do you know where you are planning to work when you get over there? I cannot wait to get over there :-)
