Just went to Sapa and it was freezing (and I’m from the north). Also hardly got any break in te cloud so spent 2 days trudging through mud looking at my footing rather than the scenery (not that I could see it). I had expected some poor weather but the Internet said it was going to be about 12 degrees, in reality it was 5 at best and close to freezing at night

Also if you go book your own train ticket and sort treks out when you get there

The tour we booked from Hanoi was very poor, literally 5 hours walking across 2 days and the rest of the time was sat around reading and trying not to freeze. Also the home stay is a con as it was more like a guesthouse and was Vietnamese people rather than local minority.

Easily the lowlight of my month in Asia, wouldn’t reccomend in winter
