Is anyone planning to live in Sydney rather than travel?

Hey,

I’m going to Sydney on 1st September and I’ve booked a hostel for a couple of weeks whilst I sort out a job and place to live. I want to live the Sydney life rather than travelling oz (although I might do a bit of that at some point).  Is anyone else planning anything similar? I’m worried I will just make friends with people who are only passing through rather than getting a proper friendship group.

I was under the impression that loads of ‘‘travellers’’ to Oz just live in Sydney the whole time.

I’m coming to Sydney in December, and assuming I can find a job somewhere, will definitely be looking for a flat and sticking around for a while.

Yes I was planning on staying in sydney or perth long term rather than travelling about, but I’d like to do a bit of travelling for a while before staying in the one place,  don’t know when i’m going out could be end of may, june , july or august!

Hi! I’m from California, and I am planning on moving to Sydney in June 2012. I want to find a job and live there for a year, but make trips to different parts of the country throughout my time there.

I’m traveling alone, so I decided to go through a company called BUNAC. I will also be looking for friends who are actually planning on living and staying in Sydney… So, we should keep in touch!

im planning on living in aus for a while before i start traveling around think it will be better to meet people that way

I would like to stay in Sydney for most of the time that I am over there. I’m thinking of heading out in October 2012. I agree that it would be good to meet people that are staying longer rather than passing through.

Im planning on heading out to Sydney in 2013 and want to live there for at least 6 months. Maybe go and visit other parts of the country during this time. Hopefully would like to meet a few travel buddies and rent an apartment.. :)

I leave Sydney and Aus late July I arrived in early October.

I lived in Sydney for 6 months in total (5 months and then a month later on in the year). Don’t worry about the friends thing, you will have instant friends in the people you live with in a flat/house. One thing you could do which I didn’t and regret, is join some clubs or activities. The sort of thing you might do over here, exercise class etc. That would help with making friends.

I’m heading out to Sydney in May 2012 and planning to get a job and settle there for the most part.

How hard was it to get a flatshare once you arrived?
