Hey,

I understand that the Lakeside area which is good for backpackers is being closed down, refurbed etc…can anyone tell me if this is complete and re-opened now or suggest any other good areas to head for upon arrival in Pnomh Penh…

Thanks

Id be interested in this too, they were filling the lake in when i was there in 09. It was a sweet little place with an incredible little Indian there. But i dont think it will be back in the same area and not in the way it was before.

Would be interesting to know where the little backpacker hives are.  Only spending 3 days there so kind of want to be prepped to make the most of it. Atm thinking Lone Star as kind of in the hub a bit.

Sweet little place???? Was a rat infested hell hole! I was there in 09 as well. If it is the same Indian i went to I remember the owner being really nice but the food not so much. Mosquito bar was good though.

It was rat infested but still a cool place to get wrecked. In the Indian they had chicken samosas the size of large pasties!

Hey mate, depends on budget and what your looking for really (i.e. nice and comfy or bit dingy but good place to meet people). First night i stayed in a really nice palce near the riverside - met a load of great people in a bar nearby and went randomly clubbing with a sweedish guy! - however it was like $18 and couldnt get them to go any cheaper.

Check this site out - found it really helpyul when in SE Asia http://www.travelfish.org/accommodation/cambodia/phnom_penh_and_surrounds/phnom_penh/phnom_penh/all

Yeah had to be - you got two per order and they were massive. I remember the naan tasting rough though - like salty plasterboard!

Cheers Jordan (may have to plump for the Hope & Anchor seeing as it is the namesake of one of our locals back home )

Mmmmm pastie sized samosas now I am salivating!

Anyone been there recently? I read that Number 10 guest house is still there but all the other places have been knocked down.

Supposed to be going there in a few days.
