Does anyone know if its possible to do this as due to a mix up, there is not going to be time to get both my doses here in the UK before I leave for a 5 month trip RTW, so I’m hoping to get my 1st dose here, and the 2nd in the US as Im going to be travelling to SE Asia in July. If its not possible, I’ll be going to Australia before SE Asia but I know you need to have it at least a month before getting to a high risk area, and that will be more than 28 days after the 1st dose.
Ask the nurse at the place where you plan to get your first one - they’ll probably know if the brand of vaccine they use will be available in other countries.
Incidentally, have a read of this document (particularly page 205) : http://www.dh.gov.uk/prod_consum_dh/groups/dh_digitalassets/@dh/@en/documents/digitalasset/dh_117991.pdf
because Japanese Encephalitis isn’t something the majority of travellers to South East Asia require (although it depends on your plans - hence read the document) - also speak to the nurse for updates on outbreaks in the areas you’re travelling to.

Yeah I did ask but she said to look into whether I could get it- she didn’t seem to know much! Don’t think I’ll be going back to her once this is all done, as its because she messed up that I am having to do it! Same for rabies and hep b jabs, though they were quite easy to find out about!
Decided to go for it as it will be another few months before I get there, and I don’t want to find myself limited by what I have been vaccinated against.
According to the document I posted above, the name of the vaccine used in the UK (albeit not licenced) is IXIARO®.
Check with your nurse that this is the right one, then do some research to find out if the travel clinics in the areas you are travelling to stock this vaccine.
The other option mentioned in the Department of Heath doc above is the Green Cross vaccine which isn’t recommended where IXIARO is available.
You can find a list of international travel clinics here: http://www.istm.org/WebForms/SearchClinics/Default.aspx?SearchType=Advanced
