I submitted my application at 8:05pm,
And I was granted my visa via e-mail at 9:13pm same evening!

Not bad considering, a work colleague applied for one 2 months ago and it took her 3 days to receive notification.

I had mine within six hours, I was very pleased after months battling to sort a Canadian one.

(I’ve clearly decided to give up the Great White North this year, the form filling was exhausting!)

Yey for us and our WHVs :-)

I pretty much figured out I was a boring person who’s never done anything wrong or out of the ordinary when I got my approval email within 10 minutes of sending it off!

Bet the 2nd one takes longer!

I’ll leave on May 23rd to Hong Kong then travel around Asia for a wee bit then hit Down under mid July.

I reckon next time I apply for the Canadian, I’ll have them receive my application on January 2nd! Says a lot about the volume of Brits trying to get out of the country though…

I’m heading to India on May 25th for four months, then landing into Perth on September 14th.

I’m about to do my final week at work this week, not long now!!!

I think I may do the same, but in around 2 years,

Why are you going to India for so long? I was planning to go there but couldn’t be bothered with their visa process, going out of my way to get them pretty expensive 2 x 2 photographs,  The photoshop near me wanted £6.50 for 4 of the buggers!

Nice, I can’t wait for my final work week :).

I thought I’d message you directly instead of carrying on in the thread.

I’ll probably try for Canada again in four or five years, now that I’m going to be in the Oz side of the world I’d rather see NZ, Asia etc before flying back.

I don’t know why India, and I donut know why so long. I want to get there and have a few weeks on a beach doing nothing and then three weeks volunteering later on so this way I have plenty of time to go from place to place in between, really take it all in. We’ll see how I do…

The visa company I’m using received my application today, I hope it get sorted quickly. I paid £9.99 for six of the big photos, not cheap but I’ll have to do at some point in my life or I’ll never get there!

What are your Oz plans? Where are you flying into?

Hi Gretel,

Sadly I wouldn’t be able to wait four or five years to apply for the Canadian WHV well maybe four if I’m pushing it, as i’m getting old now, I’m 26 and my travel plans have been delayed for a couple of years as I went to Korea in 2008 and met a lady so I kept travelling back and forth there which didn’t help much. off topic I know :).

I’d probably wait until I’m in my 30’s to go to India, I’ll stick to the tourist trails, not go on them grotty over crowded trains and take flights instead, well that would make sense since I’m an aviation geek :), sorry I tend to go off topic very easily.!
I wouldn’t like to volunteer anywhere, I personally don’t like to pay to volunteer it defeats the object.

£9.99? christ, that’s a lot!

I don’t have much Oz plans yet, but I’ll probably start in Brisbane, as my uncle lives there, but that’s not concrete at all, I have friends in all major cities so either of them will be my first stop.

Before Oz, I will start off in Hong Kong, Thailand, might do Cambodia and/or Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and maybe around Indonesia.

I plan to be lazy on the thai islands, but I shall be avoiding which I imagine is the over rated full moon party, does not appeal to me AT ALL!. Yes, I’ve been watching Big Trouble in Thailand ;).

Where else you going apart from India?  (and Oz?)

I am sorry for going off topic quite a bit :)

Haha, I’m so shit at forums, that was supposed to go in a private message!

What is Big Trouble in Thailand? Two of my housemates are flying there tonight, they’re the typical full moon party types so I’m sure they’ll have a very different trip to what I would.

I’m flying to Toronto on Monday, then back from New York a couple of weeks later. It’s just a bit of a holiday really.

After Oz I hope to carry on round SEA, China, Japan etc but no firm plans as yet. I’ll have to see what I can earn and save…

Hey Ensiferum

I booked witha company in Sydney called UltimateOz. I bought an arrival package and got them to arrange the visa too. The visa cost me $350, but altogether I think I saved about $200 Aussie for everying I got in the pack. I know I could have done it direct and paid about 180 quid for the visa ($275) but I was happy fort someone else to sort it.
