I’m a British passport holder with no option for duel nationality. I’m planning a trip to North Korea this year. My current passport has lots of stamps from, what I’m sure North Korea would consider, questionable countries.
I am also concerned about traveling on the same passport to the states. I get enough trouble going through America immigration as, having some distant Asian heritage, I apparently look like a drugs mule to the incredibly well trained not at all racist US immigration control.
I know that if your work requires you to travel to countries whos passport stamps are incompatible you can apply for a second passport from the same country with the aid of a letter from your employer, but if your travel plans arent work related, does anyone know who to apply for a second passport. The FCO is closed till tuesday
I went to North Korea last year, and I didn’t get any stamps in the passport as my visa was applied for in China - which company are you going with?
I have an interesting travel history but it wasn’t a problem getting a visa for NK, in fact it was one of the easiest Asian visas for me lol.
The States is another matter though - I’m looking forward to what they say given my fairly recent travel history of places such as Pakistan, Libya, North Korea and Zimbabwe, not to mention their favourite countries Russia, China and Vietnam haha.

Vietnam is now a close US ally to be fair.
I also might be visiting the DPRK later this year. Do you guys reckon it would be a problem that I worked in South Korea before? (I have the old visa in my passport)

I’m pretty sure they will not let you into North Korea if you have been to the south, and vice versa. It would be best to get a new passport without any stamps in.

I’ve looked at a few companies to go with; New Korea Tours and Pioneer tours, but i think I will probably be going with Koryo tours as their itineraries are more in keeping with what would suit me.
I’m not concerned about getting into North Korea, its the effect the passport stamp and visa will have on my further travels….well, I know it will have an affect, so thats not really my question. My question is about obtaining a second passport of the same nation without a letter from an employer endorsing this. Has anyone done this or know anyway around this?
I recomend Koryo tours, If your worried you can call them up via Skype to there office in China, very happy to help, allot of the office staff are European(german and french i think).

I went with young pioneers a couple of years back (highly recommend by the way).
In reagrds to worrying about future travel - don’t be. You don’t get a stamp in your passprt. You get a seperate visa form which the authorities keep after you enter (if you want a pic of what I mean let me know!) All you will have to let anyone know you have been there is a exit and entry stamp from China with no where else for the time you were there.
In regards to stamps you already have this was not a problem for me at all. All i had to supply was a photocopy of my passport picture page and the company sorted the visa out. Therefore no way of them knowing if you had been to the south prior to them issuing the visa.
