How do you deal with snoring?

So, having just returned from a weekend in Istanbul (great city, highly recommend it by the way) I stayed in an 8 bed dorm but barely got any sleep due to snoring. The first night there was one guy snoring incredibly loudly, the second there was 2 of them and by the 3rd night I think there was 4 people at it!

Now I forgot to take my earplugs with me (what an idiot) so I just had no way of blocking the noise. There was a lot of alcohol consumed on the 2nd night in an attempt to pass out and miss it but it wasn’t all that successful. Has anyone else ever been in this situation and how did you deal with it?

Two nights ago I was in a room with one other girl who didn’t snore, but whimpered in her sleep. It’s not the same, not as loud, but it made me chuckle until I put headphones in.

Ear plugs are probably the best bet though.

Just wear ear plugs or don’t be a tight git :) book a hotel in future.
did you ask to move to another dorm if there were any?

Hostel was full unfortunately otherwise a move would have been on the cards!

I tried using Ipod earphones but the snoring was too loud. And I can’t sleep with music on so I couldn’t drown it out that way. Ah, well - looking forward to a decent night’s sleep tonight :-)

Just try booking smaller dorms. In an 8-bed dorm sleep is never going to be perfect unless a group of nuns check in.
