Ok im in a bit of dilemma here, I graduate and get my degree in October and my plan after that was to head to Thailand, get a job teaching until March then spend the next few months travelling around Asia.

But I just remembered lat December I got a notion that I wanted to go to Oz and applied for a whv. I have until 6th Dec to activate it or I cant get another one I think? Is it possible to cancel this visa? Even though I dont really fancy losing the visa money. Or should I go to Oz and get job and work for a while then go back to Thailand?

The thing is I do want to do Oz eventually its just going over there alone scares me a bit as everyone who goes over seems to go in big groups and Iv a feeling Oz might be too full of Irish and British people at the moment that it would like being at home but in hot weather.

Any advice please?

Go to Oz, work until our visa expires/you get bored then use the money you earned to travel Asia.

If you’re having to choose one or the other then I say Thailand.

Ha I guess your right!!
Iv no need to choose really, I was initially planning on doing a masters in Sep 2013 but after 5 years already in Uni I think a extended break could be just what I need

Does anyone know do you have to use your two whv for australia consecutively or could I do my 3 months work to get the 2nd visa this time then keep my 2nd visa incase I ever wanted to go back in a couple of years?

While I haven’t actually looked it up, I’ve heard of people planning to do their 3 months regional work in the 1st year of their WHV, going home for a while and then coming back out for a second year so I would assume yes it is possible.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there.

Of course, if nailing is something you’re interested in, then Oz may be for you…

Personally the nailing is better in thailand. You should go to Thailand adn work there if necessary. Although Oz certainly introduced me to some errr interesting situations.

But thailand, Id say it has a lot more to do and see in my opinion. That and you are on the doorstep of at least 6 more countries.

Iv actually been to Thailand twice and love it thats why I wanted to work there. I love the culture and thats why im a bit iffy about going to Oz coz I think it will be nothing new.

But as I dont really want to waste my visa I think going to Oz for a couple of months and save some money might be the best option. This should give me enough money to live in Asia and spend time volunteering or something in a few different places for a month or so as oppose to teaching in one place like Bangkok for 6 months !
