Hey guys am getting to bangkok on july 5th and plan to head to august FMP before then heading to north of Thailand. Will one month be too long to spend in Bangkok and travelling the islands? And also what islands do ppl recommend?

Should be about right- I spent nearly 3 weeks between Ko Phi Phi and Ko Tao (including travel between them) and was never bored. On Ko Tao I got my Open Water certification which took four days, and could easily have spent another week partying there. They’re a really easy place to start your travels as there as so many tourists and relatively space distances to travel around the islands. Would definitely recommend both Phi Phi and Ko Tao but havent been to the others. Have fun!

Would cosign both tao and phi phi. I spent a month on koh tao without getting bored and went back in february for another 2 weeks and it still didn’t bore me. It’s not huge on stuff to do other than diving, snorkling, eating, drinking, lounging on the beach, hiring bikes to see some of the great view points and other beaches. But personally that’s a bit of me.
Phi phi’s also great for a party shame about the artificial sand but hey ho. Can be a bit cramped and crowded but not stiflingly so.
May also want to check out krabi amongst other islands i didn’t get to go to krabi but my friends raved about it.

How about not going to the full moon party? You may as well go to Ibiza.

If you’re looking for somewhere just that little bit less commercial than Koh Samui, head over to Koh Chang and the surrounding islands (Koh Mak is even less invaded by tourists and Koh Wai hasn’t even got a road…). I spent over a month around there last year and would not think twice about going back!

Best way to get to FMP I’d say is to take the train to Surat Thani and then a bus and a boat. All pretty well organised and you can buy joint tickets for the bus and boat to save yourself the hassle.

PM me if you need any more info.

Good call! I love Kog Chang and the other islands. I also love Koh Sammet and Koh Lipe (on the otherside).

There are some many islands to explore in Thailand - you can’t go wrong really!
