I need to take summer clothes and winter clothes for day time and night time aswell as work clothes… My backpack which is 75L was handy in some ways on my last trip but now i am thinking of taking a suitcase with wheels???

Take a suitcase. I took a backpack to Oz and there was only one time when it was preferable to a suitcase.

Take a backpack. If you’re planning on settling in one city anyway the only thing you’ll need your luggage for will be getting it from home to Asia and then Australia. You don’t want to be lugging a suitcase around in Bali.

I own 2 suitcases and they are what I use to store all 10 of my different sized rucksacks that I use for various trips abroad. I can’t imagine trying to use a suitcase even in the UK - keeping your hands free using a rucksack means you can hold a map (disguised as a newspaper) in one hand and a cold beer in the other. What are you going to do if one of those hands has to drag a suitcase around?

Hi, im on a whv in oz for a year and intend on travelling around but after some research and opinions of previous travellers i decided on a roxy long haul travelpack which is a case with wheels! Its a large case 110ltr and i only intend to pack one half and purchase additional clothes etc out there but i plan on being in hostels and shared acom, along with i am quite small so i wouldnt be able to manage a large backpack so i decided with a case! I wont be treking mountains etc so jur bought a daypack.

Backpack . I am in nz just now on working holiday . A suitcase is not suitable in Asia and a back pack can carry all you need x

I think samsonite do a lifetime warranty, but I dont know if that includes abuse by luggage handlers! They weigh quite a bit too. I just use cheap and cheerful ones - havent had a problem yet. Holdalls wouldnt protect anything inside so I wouldnt use one unless it just had clothes in. So maybe try an expensive one and see I guess!
