Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a messenger style cross body bag to use during the day when travelling rather than a daypack.  Ideally a small lightweight handbag style one that could be packed in a suitcase - so not one that is large enough for a laptop.  I know there are lots in the main clothes stores at the moment but I’m looking for one that is more practical with compartments and hardwearing.  My beloved Berghaus Messenger 365 is no more so I need a replacement.

Any suggestions are very welcome.
Thank you.

The Berghaus Messenger 365 you mention, is it the full size one, or the mini one you’re after?

My only recommendation for an alternative cross body bag would be to look on Google image or shopping search for ‘cross body bag’ and pick one you like, then try to find it to buy (easier said than done, I know).

I actually use a normal large-ish handbag/shoulder bag with a good strong zip while travelling as it looks even less touristy still. Okay, you’ll still look like an ‘outsider’ but I consider it that you look more like an ex-pat and perhaps slightly less likely to be hassled/mugged etc because you look ‘normal’.

It was the mini one that I was after.

I liked it largely because it was so lightweight and packed into a small space.  Thanks for the idea though - might have to just search normal handbags and take it from there.

Ahh yeah the mini one I loved too. It broke and I could never find a replacement. I have the large one which I won in a competition and it’s nowhere near as good as the small one so I’ve only used it once or twice (was going to offer to sell it to you!)

Good luck searching!
