I’m thinking of heading to Australia early October for a 12 month working holiday visa. Two of my friends have been to both Sydney and Melbourne and both told me to go to Melbourne. Their reasons: Friendlier people/vibe, better public transportation, and slightly cheaper cost of living (though still quite expensive). The argument I hear in favor of Sydney is better weather, though I’m from northern US, so I’m sure it’s still warmer than back home!
What do you all think? What is your argument for/against one city or another?
So, I’m thinking of doing the OzIntro package in Sydney (haven’t found an equivalent program in Melbourne) and then heading up to Melbourne. I contacted their office and they said some people leave Sydney, so hopefully someone in my group will want to also go with me!
You might want to head down to Melbourne not up lol.
I prefer Sydney personally as it was the place I started and spent the most time in. Every time I went to Melbourne the weather was miserable.
My favourite place in Sydney is Circular Quay because I loved just sitting on the round bench at the end and watching the world go by/all the boats come in.
