What’s the website? What is the price
I started looking into Borneo and MK but sort of gave up. A lot of activities in Borneo require guides/tours and they all add up and it seems being a solo traveller makes it more expensive unless you are lucky enough to meet some folk who want to do the same thing as you
Decided to concentrate on Bali instead (avoiding Kuta)
http://www.amazing-borneo.com/ between £227-319 :) x
Dealtoknow is a best online cheap deals.
Thats really expensive. Alot of things require tours that is true. But unlike much of south east asia you get relatively good value on these tours. Try just turning up in Kota Kinabalu and do a tour through the hostel. It shouldnt cost more than 100quid to climb it.
I took this tour while I was in Borneo that included climbing Mount Kinabalu: http://www.myadventurestore.co.uk/product/Kota+Kinabalu-2436676 While I was there, the majority of people were on some kind of tour but I did meet a few people who had just rocked up to Kota Kinabalu and booked it from there.
The tour was quite expensive but I didn’t have much time so wanted to make sure it was all organised and you get to go to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and to an island to see turtles hatching and stay in the jungle for a few nights.
REALLY?! I read online you had to book it all in advance? x
Thats bullshit unless its changed in the last year or so. My mates just turned up at the mountain at 7am and still got to climb it without having anything booked at all. Just hired a guide and went.
Go on Hostelbookers and see what hostels there are there then email them etc.
Ah sweet, thanks :)
I was there in June and met plenty of people who had paid £150-200 on some pre-booked trip thing, also many who had no plans and were just turning up hoping for the best. I’ve got no idea if they managed to do it though….
We didn’t climb because of several reasons (one being a suspected broken toe at the time).
I don’t know what your general plans are, but MULU NP was a highlight. We didn’t really do any research before our trip, so we only learnt about the place when we got to Semporna. Managed to bag 2 dorm beds for 3 nights and flights at short notice. Was nice to be somewhere that actually had some rainforest left….

I never went to MULU because of the price but from what I hear it is an absolute must. I might go back to Malaysia next year and will defo be going.
Yeh it really was worth it, I’m currently going through my photos and will upload some into some galleries on here soon.
We didn’t do the climbs as those from what i hear DO need to be booked well in advance. Also they do some caving- this also is booked up months in advance =( sad times! Still cool to hangout there and visit the show caves like we did, but I’d pre-plan and get in on the adventure stuff if you can!
What’s MULU? x
Sorry the links are long, I’m not tech savvy:
