what is the obsession with girls nowadays doing the ‘duck face’ in pictures?
example:
bringing this up as I noticed a couple of members on here have them in their profile pics looking like they want me to throw them a piece of bread.
what’s wrong with a smile? :)
I had not noticed this. Is it endemic across all social media sites?
On a related note. I’ve been thinking a lot about the phenomenon of ‘profile picture disappointment’. You know, when people choose a photo at a certain angle or in a certain light that makes them look way better than they actually look, then you meet them and you’re like, ‘oh, you reeeeally don’t look like that in real life’.
I was guilty of this. In 2011 I still had a Facebook profile from 2006. Sometime if you look a few years older or a few stone heavier you’ve just gotta bite the bullet and admit you look like what you look like.
It’s not a ‘fancying thing’. It’s just disappointing to find someone looks well shabby compared to their online presentation.
I know it’s not a newsflash that people present a better version of themselves online, but I guess because social media is now 5-7+ years old, it’s interesting that some people aren’t, well, growing up honestly online.

Sounds like you had a few bad experiences on online dating before you met your wife… :D
I wish facebook made me look more attractive sadly my friends and my drunken antics refuse to let me look decent in very very few pictures :/
A website I used to get plenty of lols from
Mate of mine went on a date with a girl from one of these “Let’sgetmarriedandhavekids.com (ps, the blokes just want to fuck) websites.
He met the girl, and apparently before he could control his mouth, the first words he uttered were “Was your profile pic the best photo ever taken of you?”
Suffice it to say the date didn’t go well…
I think I’m sporting the ‘duck face’ in my profile picture…
