Hi guys,

This is one we’ve been debating in the office recently - what sorts of standards to do expect when volunteering?

Do you ask questions like “how much of my money goes into the community?” and “what improvements have the charity made to the community?”

Basically, we want to know what are the types of things you want to see from volunteering companies!

Let the debates begin…

A lot of the money needs to be spent in country, needs to benefit us but the community we’re helping more. Not ridiculously expensive i.e. I saw one company offering a teaching project for 4 weeks for £3500 which seems ridiculously expensive. Companies that tell you upfront exactly where your money goes either on their website or after you apply always seem better in my books, companies that have won awards for safety/value for money etc and have really high reviews about their tours are always better too :)

Is that not along the lines of this article?

Tut tut Macca, starting threads without checking the site for relevant articles. You’ll be going on the naughty list.
