ive read you can get ferrys/ boats to these places but it takes around 22hr+?!? i dont know if that would be hell or maybe a nice way to see some scenery?

i need help tips and advice on anything but mainly the above

My dad lives in the Philippines and they go to Boracay on those diddy planes, they’re fine, and really safe :)

I went to Boracay at Christmas and flew; it was absolutely fine. I’m from Jersey so I’m used to taking small planes, which perhaps helped a bit, but seriously ... the planes aren’t even that small! If you’re imagining those light aircraft you see taking people on safaris or whatever - it’s not like that!! I didn’t feel unsafe; hundreds of people travel to these places everyday without problems.

I personally think I’d be more nervous taking a long boat journey in the Philippines - at least aircraft have higher safety standards. I’d book to fly; there’s no point subjecting yourself to a full day of travel in a possibly overcrowded boat when you could be there in a matter of hours instead.

One thing to be aware of is that flights are often delayed for long periods depending on the weather (we had friends who had to wait about 6 hours) - so make sure you give yourself some leeway in case this happens ... you don’t want to book two flights close to each other on the same day and then end up missing one.

Enjoy your trip to the Philippines! It’s an amazing and underrated destination and I’m sure you’ll have fun.

Hello! we rode a boat once from Mindoro Island going to Boracay because we can’t afford a plane ticket then, kinda took us approx 4+ hrs.. it was in itself quite exhausting but at least we got to see some dolphins jumping beside our boat and that made our trip worth it! But planes really are more convenient.

Hey thanks for all the replies!!

:) everyone of them are so useful..

So my main fear with flying is i cannot stand turbulance and the thought of flying in a diddy plane doesnt help.. so i mean in a plane that small do they still fly as high as ther planes? and if so how was it?

The boat would be great but again its such a long journey and flying is not too expensive!!

How long would you reccomment in philippines as i want to visit palawan (el nido) boracay and maybe one more?

They say night flights have less turbulence, but it really won’t harm you or anything, just relax and don’t get too nervous. :)

Maybe spend a week on each island?  But make sure you visit Boracay first and Palawan (El Nido and Coron) as your finale. I think it will take you an hour for a direct flight from Bor-Pal.

If you want you can also take a side trip to another island near Boracay, it’s called Carabao island, less populated, less developed but has almost the same white beaches.

There is also Caramoan which is on the eastern side, or Panglao island in Bohol.. ok there are many islands worth visiting.. gah, this site might help you: http://www.ourawesomeplanet.com/awesome/2011/01/beaches-of-the-philippines.html

Awesome thanks so much for that!!!
I hate flying as it is so me being in a small plane feels like a huge thing lol.. my thoughts are that the plane will be loud and not as safe as a big plane and safety wont be a big deal?!!?! im probably wrong there…. so ill be there in their summertime- when you were there was there turbulance at all? do they fly reallly high aswell? or can you see the scenery better?

i cant wait to visit el nido it looks amazing!!!

Haha, of course, safety should always be top priority. And make sure the pilot is experienced and really trustworthy.

There is also an option wherein you will not ride a small plane, rather an airbus from Boracay. The catch is that there will be a short stop-over in Manila first before you reach Palawan. And it will take you longer about 3-5 hours..

Well I haven’t been to El Nido and neither have I rode a diddy plane yet, but I’m currently checking local airlines because I’m also planning to go there next summer. March, April, May will be the best time to travel around the country.
