Don’t know if it’s me doing something wrong, or the site.
I can create an album but when I try to upload photos, they all fail. I’ve tried different ones, none work.
They’re Jpeg and not of ridiculous size either.
Able to shed any light?
I often have issues trying to upload photos on here (sometimes it works, sometimes it’s painfully slow and / or crashes) ... unfortunately it seems to be an ongoing problem, which is annoying as I think travel photos should be a major part of any travel site.
Sorry I can’t actually help, but at least it’s not just you!
Yeah it’s high time this was sorted out.
GY, you should be putting your time into this rather than the competitions and stuff. Your community is the most important thing and without it this site would crash and burn.
Make the photos better and please for the love of god bring back smilies on the message boards. How hard can it be? www.eslcafe.com uses the same message board script and seems to have no issues with this.
Yes and fix the issue that you cant read threads unless your logged in! Sometimes I am too lazy to log in especially when I am travelling

I don’t have this issue…
Well it always happens to me and when I posted about it someone else was having the same problem so there is definately a bug in the site somewhere
Hey guys,
Thanks for your feedback.
We are aware of some of the bugs with the photo uploader and we looking at replacing it with a more stable one soon. Caroline, if you don’t mind helping out, i’ll IM you with my email address and get you to send through some of the photos that don’t work, as that will help our web developers get to the bottom of it quicker. Thanks!

It certainly is and I can assure you that it is the community where our attention is very much focused. Some major upgrades are on the way with blogs being the first to get a functional and aesthetic overhaul. Once we’ve done that, a serious upgrade of the photos is very much in the pipeline.
Thanks

OK that sounds good.
Any comment on the message board stuff though? Seems like you just sidestepped that point there.
Any comment on the message board stuff though?
Hi Lunny.
The site you referenced earlier is simply plugging in PHPBB, whereas what we have on gapyear.com is a pretty customised forum solution. This needs to be the case to get it to work in conjunction with the various other site components. The interface might look kind of similar to PHPBB from the front-end, but from the back-end they cant really be compared (for reference, the smileys on that other site are part PHPBBs default set-up, so they haven’t needed to do anything to enable them).
Bringing back emoticons is on our radar and very much on the work list, but as said, sadly it isn’t as easy as just switching on a module (otherwise we would have already done so). We will address it, but at the moment, projects like blogs, photos and trip planning need to take priority; but emoticons will be back, I can assure you of that…
Thanks

OK thanks for the reply.
Yay, it either mended its self or someone else mended it. If it was the latter, thank you to who ever was responsible!
Hi
I can’t upload any photos at all, the upload images bar doesnt link to anything?
Hi Livliv88,
We’re having a number of problems with the photo uploader at the moment. In essence, we tried to introduce an upgrade to the photo galleries which actually broke the site (not cool I know).
We’re working long and hard to fix the problem - all we can ask of is your patience (that goes to everyone guys - sorry) and know that it’ll be fixed soon!
Sorry again.
Macca

It has let me upload a picture now but when i try to set it as a profile picture it has the invite friends info.

Hi,
I have just signed up to the boards and have this same issue? I cannot set a profile picture even though I have uploaded one.
Unless it’s my face or something…
Cheers,
Dan!

It’s obviously your face. ;) Welcome to Gapyear.com! Persevere with the bugs - the site is being overhauled.
