Hi all
I’ve been travelling around Se Asia for a month, the initial part via an organised tour in cambodia and vietnam. I am now in HK and would like to go to some islands and beaches next for a few weeks. As the Philippine islands seem the closest I was thinking of flying to Cebu, which seems a fairly cheap option from HK. The problem is where to go after that - flying to Bali/Indonesia seems to be expensive and I don’t really want to do a long haul flight or stopover at Sing/KL (since I’ve done this once already), I can’t find any option for boats so far. Is this an unpopular route or have I missed an obvious travel option somewhere?
Any help or advice is much appreciated!

Piracy is a big problem in the southern phillipines. And it would be a long boat ride. I know you dont want to go back to KL etc but it will be alot cheaper if you just use air asia and bite the bullet. It can be done in a day.

Thanks for the heads up, piracy didn’t even cross my mind! I guess convenient travel in Asia is wishful thinking :)

Anyone thinking of travelling in Asia keep this in mind!

I used to look at a map and presume there was a direct boat or bus from A-B. I found out eventually@

If you want lush islands go to Boracay, Bohol or Catalan. As for getting to Indonesia, you have to go via somewhere :) Avoid the Southern Island of Mindanao that’s where the pirates are (and the kidnappers) :)
