Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me regarding the IEC in Canada.

Im going to Canada in September 2013 on the IEC, i was wondering if it is possible to go to Brazil for a few then re-enter back on the IEC.

Im really confused on the whole visa and permit thing.  So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can (assuming that you meet the entry requirements for Brazil). However, the validity period of your work permit will not be extended by the amount of time you spend outside Canada. See:
