Hey everyone!
I am a 24 year old female looking for a travel buddie/s for March 2013, though I am flexible with when we leave!
I’m really easy going and up for trying everything.
I haven’t planned this finely yet as I am still looking for someone to go with and figure out a rough plan together, but some places I would like to go are:
Vietnam
Cambodia
Thailand
Malaysia
Would like to go to Bali to do a diving course
Also Borneo to work with Orangutans :)
New Zealand to hire a camper and travel around, also maybe work on a farm for 2 weeks
Then to South America and work my way up to Ecuador which I fell in love with earlier this year- Ideally spend 3 months there doing Spanish lessons and Volunteer work but this is just an idea-
Then Mexico and who knows where!
So like I said…it’s pretty rough but I had to start somewhere!
I want to try ANYTHING! Diving, Skydiving, Mountain climbing, Rafting, Volunteering with Kids/Animals, Working when possible, Learning languages, Cooking….I really just want to experience as much as I can in all places.
I think my plan is to do point to point stops, and try to walk/hitch/overland it when possible to keep costs down and just stay in each place as long as it feels right- I don’t want to pre book all the flights as I like the idea of taking a risk and just seeing where we feel like going!
So hopefully someone out there is thinking the same kind of thing and we can make a rough plan together :)
I hope to be gone at least a year or as long as the money lasts!
Hey Tashya
I am heading off round the world early next year too and the only thing I know at the moment is that my first stop is going to be Thailand.
I have spoken to a few people on various message boards about meeting up out there but just to guarantee that I meet people straight away, I have been looking at a few group tours for backpackers and a friend who just got back from Thailand recommended TruTravels (he said he did a tour of theirs last year and it was awesome). Anyway, I’m thinking about doing the 16th of March group and staying on for the 26th March Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan. (the site is http://www.trutravels.com if you want to take a look)
I did want t do everything on my own but after speaking to my pal I think a group trip might be a good way to get started & meet people, plus it’s only 7 days so after that I’ll be doing everything independently (or hopefully with new travel buddies)...
After this, I’m thinking of island hopping for a few weeks then heading back up north to explore more of Thailand before doing Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia (in any order), then over to NZ for a while. I would love to do South America too if I have enough time & money but we’ll have to see nearer the time I guess.
How long are you planning on spending in NZ before heading over to Ecuador?
Ben
Tashya! I would love to do all those things you mentioned but I am too scared to go and do them on my own. I do have plans to go to canada next march time for a month to explore but when i am back i would be up for going travelling! I have no plans as i wanted to find someone to travel with before I actually planned any trips! Beckii
Liking the itinerary I plan to do the same but backwards- want to start in South America. Planned to leave in march too but wont have enough saved by then, i budgeted 15,000 but iv’e only got like 7 :( think ill be saving now until june / july now!
whats your budget for the trip?
BTW ben, just checked out the trutravels and its the same itinerary as thaiintro just slightly cheaper. id personally go for it; i did thaiintro a few years ago and it was ‘amaze’!

I’m all booked up for 2013! Going to quite a few of the places you have mentioned (mainly south east asia and new zealand) x
Hi all- Ive just had a look at Trutravels looks great! Im planning on going later on next year- September my route is Thailand, OZ, New Zealand then the USA…. would be great to hear from anyone doing something similar or even to get some planning tips! xx
Hiya,
I’m looking to hit up south america, new zealand and oz end of the year.
First cuba,
then maybe mexico, columbia, definitely Brazil and onto peru for the machu picchu. Then either straight to new zealand, or fuji for a break and then new zealand, and finally onto oz to settle for a year or 2, maybe more if i can get sponsored!
I know everyone will have different routes but if we’re in the same countries at a similar time then i’d love ot meet up so i have someone to experience it all with!
Have you got any months/dates in mind?
