Got the bus from singapore to melaka, very simple very quick especially given that it was a bank holiday. In fact the worst part of the whole journey was the trek through singapore with my rucksack first-why am i so incapable of packing light!
My bags got searched at Malaysian customs, though having said that it wasn’t really a search the bloke opened on of the pockets of my rucksack and then went ‘where you from’ on my replying ;near manchester in englad’ he simply went’ahhh david beckham’ and then said you go now so i did. great search technique, really great!
Melaka was pretty in its way though there wasn’t much to do there. The guest house we were staying in though Sama Sama was perfect a gorgeous little old house with a courtyard in the middle run by a swiss lady and her malaysian husbands and their various animals!
There were big murals of Bob Marley all over the wall and his music was permanently playing, great atmosphere really chilled and relaxed and generally perfect, no air con though bu t he cold showers and stunning building made up for that!
Ate at an Italien restaurant with the rest of the group that evening and our tour guide John who is a complete dude! I think his main aim was to get everyone as drunk as possible(which in the case of one individual worked and his girlfriend still isnt speaking to him!)
Then we went to a bar called Benny’s where some random Dutch guy was under the impression that because we were a tour group that we must all sleep in the same bed! very very odd!
So that was Melaka some pretty buildings in the old town and a chilled atmosphere though i wouldnt have wanted to stay any longer. Have moved onto KL now but will write about that in a few days! needless to say last night wqas a late one and i want a couple of hours sleep before tonight-oh god i have a feeling that tommorows going to be a hungover bus ride-yippee!
