Ok i´ll try and make this as concise as possible as there is no way anyone would bother readin the whole story!!!
After a rather nervous flight from salvador to manaus, includin 4stops and the sound that seemed to be the engines dying on the plane every now and then we finally got in at 11.30, luckily an american ccalled trisha that we met in salvador had arrived here earlier that day and already organised a hotel for us, which we found after a very long tirin conversation wit the information desk that hardly spoke english!! always fun
The next day went about tryin to find a jungle tour, after takin an hour and a half to get out of our hotel due to them receptionist tippin several tour companies off that we had just arrived and so gettin flooded with offers and sob stories abhout why we should pick them we managed to get to manaus centre. slight oversight however in that it was a sunday and there was very little goin on in manaus and most tour companies were shut! good good
We wondered round the market p´lace for a while and eventually wentr into another hotel to see if they could make a reccomendation about tour companies, within 5mminutes Nelson from Green Plaent was there and we were offered a tour for $20 a day cheaper than any others we´d seen which was nice.
We had a hectic night that night goin to ponta negro which is like party central, alot of forro dancin and drinkin games later we were jumpin in the rio negro wit a load of locals!
The next day we got the boat to our lodge, stoppin off at the meeting of the waters where the rio negro meets the rio blanco and you can see them runnin next to each other, wierd, its likle a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate ice cream next to each other, we also saw some pink dolphins here which was amazin.
After that we stopped off at the giant lily pads, they were about a meter across! It was beautifull though and i could already tell the amazon would exceed my expectations.

The STARTING PRICE for any jungle tour in Manaus is 60 (sixty Reais)per day. That the hotel staff was quite ¨insisting¨ can be explained by the commission (approx. 20%) paid by most tour operators.
GREEN PLANET lodge is operated by Planet Tours, which accepts ¨repasses¨ (transfers from other agencies) for 60 Reais. Anyone paying more than 100 Reais (approx. 60 USD) per day is being overcharged. Always ask for the rate for locals, which is 70 to 80 Reais per day.
