People who want to make a real difference, want first-hand experience of real South African culture and who have initiative. You can also do lots of other activities while you're there. No qualifications or previous experience are necessary, just a good dose of enthusiasm and a caring nature!

This is a wonderful care project that is situated in the famous 'Garden Route' area in the Cape region of South Africa.

Knysna is a beautiful town situated alongside a stunning lagoon. There are many cafés and restaurants to visit and plenty to do in the area to keep you busy. The nearest beach is in Plettenberg Bay which is about half an hours drive from Knysna and is a lovely place to spend relaxing weekends or for the more adventurous type, why not try some of the many water sports they have on offer for a truly fun-filled day!

This project has an immense 'feel good' factor and you will be hugely satisfied when you see how your help is benefiting these wonderful children.

We are currently working closely with a lovely children’s home, which is situated within the local townships in Knysna. The home currently accommodates about 30 children from babies to older children of various ages that attend the nearby local schools. Many of the children are old enough to attend school so your morning work will be spent with the babies and you will then have the opportunity to spend time with the older children in the afternoons when school has finished.

Generally you wil be asked to help out wherever you can in and around the orhanage. Your day-to-day duties may vary depending on the work required at the time, but any help you can give them will be greatly appreciated. The type of work you will be asked to help out with would include, preparing food for the children, bathing them, changing their nappies, feeding them, helping with home work and organising/facilitating games and plays for the children.

Your accommodation will be based in one of our volunteer houses in Knysna itself, just a short walk from the town and local amenities. You'll be given a food budget which will cover all your meals. All you will need is some pocket money for any luxury items you may require such as cokes, shampoo and for any site seeing or travelling around.

If your looking to also do a bit of site seeing in your spare time then Knysna is definitely the option for you as there are endless amounts of activities to do and places to see in and around the local area. Anything from experiencing a bungy jump or bridge swing at Bloukrans Bridge or a sky dive in Plettenberg Bay, a visit to the elephant sanctuary or a whale and dolphin encounter and many, many more!

You don't need any qualifications to take part in this project, just a caring nature and lots of energy! So come to south africa and have a trip of a life time!
