This placement would suit... Lattitude placements suit individuals with a can-do attitude who are willing to make the most of their placement, put in the required hard work but also be able to have a great time.
For applicants from the UK, we have a number of bursary schemes available for volunteers from a variety of backgrounds.
Our bursary scheme and funded placement projects reduce the barrier of cost for young people experiencing financial problems. They are designed to help young people who would not otherwise be able to afford to go.
Placements are in institutions working with children in care, physically or mentally disable children and street children. Children in care are mostly under the age of 4 and a few older ones. Volunteers help with caring which is a fairly demanding work. Disabled children and young adults placements are in a state school for disabilities that offers a broad range of activities and professional support. Volunteers help with teaching, caring, gym, dance and general art. The work can be a little distressing but equally rewarding.
The street children project offers a variety of roles from gathering in the street children, the outreach programme, teaching English, helping with homework, art, producing a newsletter, to helping at the Doctor’s surgery with patients. The children are largely untutored and can be a handful but are very likeable. Many other volunteers of different nationalities work here and it is a challenging and rewarding activity. Qualities/skills required
An ability to speak Spanish is desirable, however if you have no Spanish but are willing to learn, you may also be considered.
