Childcare and Care Work
Volunteer work with children
This placement would suit... anyone wishing to help disadvantaged children![]() Argentina is the eight largest country in the world. It has natural wonders and a unique blend of cultures. A presence of European traditions is heavily felt, with influences from Scandinavia through to Eastern Mediterranean. Argentina has breathtaking landscapes, from desert to mountains and glaciers and there is a wealth of wildlife. Projects Abroad volunteers work in a children's home, situated just outside the centre of Unquillo and several smaller community houses in the surrounding region. The homes care for many children from the ages of 0 to 21 years old, who have either been orphaned or abandoned. Some of the children are also physically or mentally handicapped. Your role is to help care and support the children, offering the love and attention they desperately need. Throughout your placement, you will be located near other volunteers and will live with a local host family. This is a brilliant way to become a part of the local community, giving you a real insight to what Argentine life is like. There is also an opportunity for you to go travelling after. "Through Projects Abroad I met the family I lived with and the children I worked for - without them my life wouldn't be as complete as it feels now. Everything about spending time away and without your comfort zone was positive - I now look back and see how far I've come, the independence and tolerances you learn are all skills to be appreciated." - Joanna King
