  This placement would suit...

Those who are keen to learn Portuguese and to reach out to troubled children in the heart of South America.

You can change the lives of Brazilian children whilst learning Portuguese in the buzzing cities of Brazil. We have three brilliant childcare projects based in and around the vibrant city of Sao Paulo. You could help transform the lives of street children in a children’s home in the beautiful countryside giving them a fresh start from the poverty and hardship of the city slums.

Another of the placements is a day centre based in a favela or slum. You would be coming up with fun activities that the children love and giving them a lot of support and attention.

The last project that we offer is working with disabled children in the uplifting Leonard Cheshire home. It is a joyful place where great volunteers like yourself offer care and facilities for disabled children and their families, dramatically improving their standard of life.

The work will be challenging, but you will be inspired by the dedication and passion you see at these projects. It will change your outlook on Brazil and hardship forever.

The beauty and buzz of Brazil will be there to enjoy when you need to recharge your batteries. Sao Paulo is very cosmopolitan and within reach of glorious scenery and pristine beaches.

Where will I live..?

On the project you will be living either at your project site or very close by, in safe and secure accommodation with another Oyster volunteer. It will be basic but comfortable and food will be provided, although you may have to cater for yourself on occasions.

Where you may live

We offer a very personal service at Oyster and are always

happy to chat things through with you. A few months before you leave we’ll hold a pre-departure course where you’ll meet fellow volunteers and get thorough preparation to help you with working and living in Brazil.

On arrival in Brazil you’ll be met by our local representative, Rachael, who will help you settle in. She will co-ordinate the language course, voluntary programme and expedition to Iguacu falls on the border of Paraguay and Argentina. She will give you all the friendship and support you need and will report back to the UK office to keep us updated on your progress.
