Conservation work and volunteer projects

Diary of a conservation project

Nikki La NieceNikki La Niece has a wild summer ahead of her. She's just landed in Botswana with African Conservation Experience where she'll start the first of two volunteer projects. Firstly she'll spend four weeks getting up close to leopards and vultures on the Tuli Conservation Project before heading to the Nholwasi Community Project in South Africa where she will teach local school kids.

More about the Tuli Conservation Project in Botswana

Tuli Conservation ProjectThe Tuli Conservation Project gives volunteers the opportunity to closely study two of Africa‘s famous Big Five species; the majestic, awe-inspiring African elephant (herds of 100+) and the secretive leopard. The student camp is nestled on the bank of the vast Limpopo river and the mystical harshness of the terrain, the extreme beauty and the sheer size of the area has left humans knowing very little about the wildlife. This is where the volunteer, fit into this raw African conservancy.

Volunteers gain valuable experience in field research, get close to large African mammals and take part in an awesome one-off adventure in the African bush!

Nholwasi Community ProjectMore about the Nholwasi Community Project in South Africa

A truly moving and possibly even life changing experience. When grappling with the challenges facing conservation in modern day Africa, one needs to be exposed to and to try and gain an understanding of the challenges that African people face every day. Situated almost within sight of the Kruger National Park, the project is based in the Acorn Hoek Community. Students live in a pristine environment surrounded by Africa’s Big Five, going in each day to one of four schools in the community to teach Environmental Studies.
