Learning a language is about developing more than just the ability to speak and understand vocabulary and grammar; a nation's culture is expressed in its language and language is a lens through which we see culture. The culture of a particular area might be expressed not just through language but through gastronomy, wine, art, or literature. Similarly, the identity and culture of many places can be expressed through sport; surfing the Basque Coast, sailing the Mediterranean, skiing, snowboarding and snowboarding in the alps, football in Brazil and Argentina.
