Safety in New Zealand

New Zealand is an extremely safe country to travel to. The only major thing to look out for is natural disasters, though they are very rare. There are currently no travelling restrictions in place for travelling to and throughout New Zealand.

An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Christchurch on the 22nd February 2011, killing at least 65 people. It was the worst natural disaster since 3rd February 1931 where 256 died from an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale.
