Why Over 30s?

We offer specialised programmes aimed at volunteers over 30 years of age. Some of our projects require volunteers who have maturity, life experience and knowledge in order to adequately assist and support the vulnerable people and children we work with. The activities have been chosen to deliver sustainable change whilst providing you with the opportunity to share your knowledge, skills and experiences with underprivileged communities in Cape Town. Volunteer travel is popular with students taking a gap year and with young adults who have finished a course of study. Our over 30’s programmes offer older volunteers, who might not want to travel with gap year volunteers, an opportunity to travel and work with similar aged volunteers from all over the world.

The focus of this project is to educate, support and empower disadvantaged, orphaned and vulnerable children and youth through a sustainable approach to community development.

As a volunteer you are an essential part of the African Impact team, assisting our efforts of providing children and youth with a better education and a brighter future. Throughout this experience you will have rewarding opportunities to help prepare for weekly educational learning activities, which will be implemented whilst on project with the support of African Impact facilitators and fellow volunteers.

African Impact

African Impact is a multi-award winning volunteer travel organisation offering meaningful interactive volunteer projects throughout Africa.  Founded in 2004 at Antelope Park in Zimbabwe, we have over 8 years’ experience and having facilitated over 10,000 volunteers in over 12 countries across the continent, making us the largest on-the-ground African specialists in volunteer tourism.  We offer a range of conservation and community volunteering and internship programs and also facilitate group and family travel.  To us, volunteering is a two-way thing. It’s not just about the hands-on help and skills that volunteers bring; it’s also about what this amazing continent, its people and its wildlife can give those volunteers in return.  We want to empower our volunteers to make a difference and have them bring about long lasting positive change on local communities and the physical environments in which we work.
