Geography in the UK
England is a small country bordered by Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. It is separated from France by 34-kilometre (21 miles) sea gap, though the two countries are connected by the Channel Tunnel near Folkestone. As England is on an island, it is surrounded by the water of the Irish Sea, North Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
It is a flat country with the highest peak being Scafell Pike at 978m.
Another interesting fact - the city of Birmingham has more canals than Venice.
