This mountain range, in the wilds of Chilean Patagonia, is unique. Few regions in the world can offer such isolation coupled with such high-quality mountaineering and awe-inspiring scenery. Raleigh International is offering three weeks of pure adventure in this spectacular setting. Raleigh Adventures are designed to provide as many highlights of a country as possible during a short period. This means they are ideal for those who are at work and want an adventure travel experience: one that takes you off the beaten track and into different worlds. New Zealand Base Camp will be your established central site from which all your trekking activities will be conducted. Training, including an introduction to snow climbing and safety techniques, will fill the next few days, after which excursions up the slopes towards the summits will be planned. Conditions permitting, it should be possible to summit several peaks in the range, and to complete some superb ridge walking. Your treks will take you into the heart of the Cerro Castillo national reserve, which was established in 1970 and covers 134,000 hectares. You’ll be fully equipped with winter gear, including specialist kit such as crampons and ice picks. The return journey will bring you back to Field Base and the chance for a hot shower and a meal out in a local restaurant! Leaving Coyhaique a couple of days before the flight to London allows for some sightseeing in the capital Santiago before returning home. It’s all for charity...
