Getting to the airport
Important (obvious) notes
1. If check-in closes one hour before the flight leaves and you’re not there on time... no matter how much you plead or cry... you will not get through.
2. See 1. above - traffic jams, not being organised, lack of petrol, wrong airport, car breaking down etc. all help you to not achieve this goal.
3. You will never miss a plane by being too early.
As a backpacker you should be quite chilled and ready for a trip full of leisurely travel not dictated to too much by time. Getting to the airport early will not only help you to get a good seat, but it means you can chill and start your trip off in a good way.
Ideas
- A taxi / chauffeur car may be a little more expense, but if zero stress and door to door service means an extra £50, then why not think about it.
- If you are too early you can always nip out to a local hotel for a quick drink and sandwich after you have checked in, just make sure you don’t get lost or stranded there (a riskier option).
- It may sound boring but planning your trip to the airport carefully really will make the difference between a successful start to your trip and not.
