GAP Activity Projects bursary schemeWant to take a gap year and think you can't afford it? Think again. Gap year charity GAP Activity Projects runs a bursary scheme for applicants who are volunteering with them. The scheme is designed to help those applicants who would find it financially difficult to afford to take a gap year. Jonathan, Faye and Mohammed all received a gap year bursary... "The amazing times I've had and the incredible sights I've seen were made possible by your generous support and I thank you for it. This trip has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the things I have learnt on the way will benefit me in later life and even in my university degree" - Jonathan, conservation volunteer in Australia, 2003. "The seven months I spent on my GAP project were the best seven months of my life. I developed as a person and learnt how to rise to new challenges and really look after people. I’m now studying to become a doctor and these skills help me in every aspect of my course. Because of family financial circumstances I never could have had this experience if I hadn’t received the bursary from GAP. Not only does the bursary contribute to the lives of young people who want to travel and make a difference; it also benefits a whole community in a different part of the World" - Faye, volunteered at a hospital in Japan, 2003. "If it wasn’t for the bursary I received from GAP, I would have spent the last six months working behind a desk. Instead I've travelled across Asia, swum through the life of a coral reef, watched the sun rise over ancient ruins in Angkor and watched it set between the rocks of Halong Bay. I’ve danced with soldiers and sang with monks, befriended people from places I'd never heard of while doing things I’d never dreamed of. I can’t recommend a gap year enough... unless of course the desk sounds more appealing" - Mohammed, volunteered in a school in Vietnam, 2004![]() Name: GAP Activity ProjectsAddress: 44 Queen's Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 4BB Click here >> to see all placements with GAP Activity Projects Click here >> for fundraising advice from GAP Activity Projects To find out whether you could be eligible for a bursary from GAP Activity Projects, call the team on 0845 344 7500 or Click here >> to email them. |
